Why didn’t we upgrade to 3.8, 3.9, or 3.10 sooner? Upgrading now on a whim was not an option we had to get 3.7 working somehow. Even though 3.7 is still actively maintained, building it for arm64 on macOS didn’t work at all. To our surprise, we hit our first roadblock installing Python 3.7 using pyenv. We pulled it off, but let’s just say more hours went into it than expected. The plan was to migrate everything from our 2019 MacBooks in a day or two before handing them in.
